Birdsville Rodeo and Simpson Desert Double Crossing

July 24, 2023 - August 13, 2023

The general plan, to be discussed at a meeting of those interested, is:

  • Depart for Birdsville 24 July.
  • Attend Birdsville Rodeo 29-30 July.
  • Depart Birdsville 31 July for Mount Dare via Big Red and the Simpson.
  • Depart Mt Dare around 3-4 August for Birdsville via the Simpson, K1 Line and Warburton Crossing.
  • Depart Birdsville around 7-8 August for home.

Free camping will be used where possible. It is intended that caravans and campers will be left at Birdsville. You’ll need to be fully self-sufficient in your vehicle with water, fuel and food for each crossing.

The trip is limited to six vehicles. Note that while the Simpson is currently closed due to flooding which will be reassessed 30 June, the trip will proceed regardless with replanning around the closed sections. And sorry, no pets.
