The long-planned Land Rover 75th anniversary celebration has now come and gone. After a year of planning, everything came together in Cooma for a very successful event.
The first LR anniversary held in Cooma was the 40th in 1988. This was a small celebration put on by a group of Land Rover and Range Rover clubs. In 1998, the 50th was a bigger event, with the 60th in 2008 and the 70th in 2018 each bigger than the previous one. So, in 2023, and after only 5 years, Land Rover enthusiasts came together again in Cooma for the ‘diamond’ anniversary.
The activities included displays, day trips, a motorkhana, show & shine, huge BBQ and more. On Sunday, a massive parade through Cooma with vehicles forming up in the Showground. This was followed by a great Gala Dinner on Sunday evening. All in all, a great event enjoyed by all who attended.
Thanks go to all those involved in organising the event with the Cooma Car Club again doing a fantastic job. Also, thanks to the Land Rover clubs who contributed to the event activities and special thanks to all our Range Rover Club members who volunteered to help with the many administration tasks.
The Land Rover 75th Anniversary contributed an estimated $1.5m to the economy of Cooma and the Snowy Monaro Shire. Thanks again to everyone for a great time and hope we can be part of it again in 2028 for the Land Rover 80th Anniversary.
