SUMMARY:18th Historic Land Rover Week-end
DESCRIPTION:Patrick and Margaret Sutcliffe are inviting all owners of leaf-sprung Land Rovers\, Defenders\, Discovery 1s and 2s and Classic Range Rovers to join them in a weekend of activities based on their property\, Paxina.  Although the Trials are limited to these older models\, ALL Club Members are welcome to come and enjoy the weekend. \nThe property has good bush camping and is about 44 kilometres north of Lithgow.  Two bush toilets are provided\, and there is a shower shed (bring your own shower and water).  Access to the site is possible for camper trailers towed by a proper 4WD (i.e.\, with low ratio and high clearance)\, but NOT caravans.  Wood for campfires is available. \nDetails of how to get there will be provided on booking. People are welcome to arrive at the property any time after lunch on the Friday. \nFuel and Basic Supplies \nAvailable from the store at Capertee\, about 14 kilometres away. \nActivities \n\nFriday will be spent settling in to the campsite\, viewing the vehicles and counting rivets.  There will be a campfire in the evening subject to fire restrictions\nOn Saturday morning\, if there is sufficient interest\, a short trip will be taken.  This may be through the spectacular Capertee Valley\, on tracks on our and a neighbour’s property\, or to visit the historic shale mining town of Glen Davis\nAfter lunch\, there will be a chance to test your driving skills in the first two Sections of the Trials event (see below)\nIn the evening\, many tall tales will be told around the campfire (subject to fire restrictions)\nOn Sunday morning the third and fourth Sections will be more Trials\, with results and awards being presented at lunchtime.\n\nTrials\nDriver briefing Saturday 11.45am at Section 1 \nThe trial is open to all standard Land Rovers up to and including Classic Range Rovers and Discovery 1 and 2. \nCompetitors will be classified into four groups\, \n\nSeries 1.\nSeries 2 and 3.\nCounty\, Perentie and Defender.\nClassic Range Rover and Discovery 1 and 2.\n\nThe trial comprises four Sections\, each section consisting of 12 “Gates” (bamboo canes pushed into the ground) numbered from 12 down to 1.  The aim of the trial is to drive through the Section without stopping or touching the gates. If a competitor hits a gate or has to stop they receive a penalty\, e.g. if you hit Gate 6 you receive 6 points\, As all competitors start with a score of zero\, the aim is to achieve the lowest possible number of penalty points. \nAs a general rule the Gates at the start of the Section are easy and get more difficult as the Gate number decreases. \nLWB vehicles are at a disadvantage compared to SWBs in some Sections\, so to even things up\, they are allowed a number of “Shunts”. This means they can stop\, reverse and then go forward again\, without occurring a penalty. \nA trial is not a race and is not timed\, so driving slowly\, carefully and picking your lines is the best way to finish with a low score. \nCompetitors are only allowed one attempt at each section\, but the same vehicle can be used by multiple competitors. \nCompetitors cumulative scores over the two events will constitute a Trials Championship. \nBookings: Peter Mitchell (or phone Peter on 0408 811 407). \nGrade E at the campsite (no caravans)\nGrade D along the Turon River and on property tracks.

SUMMARY:Murray Sunset Desert Trip
DESCRIPTION:Join John and Tracey Deans on a trip to the Victorian Murray Sunset Desert. \nThe trip is caravan and camp trailer friendly. As we will be in National Parks\, no dogs please. \nThe trip officially starts in Jugiong on Saturday morning with a 9am departure\, however most participants will travel to Jugiong on Friday 3rd.  The next night will be free camping in Hay. For those who are still working and can’t get to Jugiong for the Saturday morning departure\, you could meet us in Hay Saturday afternoon. Hay is approximately  690 km from Liverpool. \nWe will be bush camping for the first few nights\, then staying in a Caravan Park at Loxton SA. This will allow us to leave vans and campers set-up in the Park for a day trip down the Border Track. \nWe then move to another bush camp (camper van accessible) in the Sunset Desert NP. We return home via a bush camp on the Murray River and other bush camps. \nThe trip has a limited number of participants and is expected to fill quickly. \nFor more details or to book please contact John and Tracey Deans at trip12@rangeroverclubnsw.asn.au.

SUMMARY:Hill End Weekend
DESCRIPTION:There is a little something for everyone on our late winter weekend away to Hill End. The main theme of the weekend is stargazing and night photography as we’ve coincided the trip with a new moon on Saturday night\, but there will be plenty of 4WD action on both Saturday and Sunday\, sampling of local produce\, chats around the campfire\, and the chance to discover some of the oldest Australian mining history in and around the village of Hill End. \nWe will meet on Saturday morning at Lithgow and head out to Hill End via a river crossing using some 4WD tracks\, and stay overnight at the Hill End Ranch. On Sunday we will travel to Orange via more 4WD tracks\, ending the trip at Mt Canobolas. \nAccommodation will be in unique train carriages\, or you can choose to stay in one of the cottages or budget cabins. \nFor more information and to secure your spot on this fun weekend\, please contact Jenny for a full weekend itinerary.
