SUMMARY:Land Rover Convoy - Australian Record Attempt
DESCRIPTION:EVENT CANCELLED : Unfortunately\, this event has been cancelled due to insufficient registrations. \n\nIf you happen to be in the vicinity\, this could be fun. Or make a trip of it. It will still be fun. \nAs part of the Land Rover Gathering near Hervey Bay in Queensland\, there will be an attempt at breaking the Australian Record for the largest Land Rover Convoy. Registration opens at 7am and the convoy departs from Trinity Island Holiday Park at 8:30 am under formal scrutiny. I imagine that is the start of the convoy; if you are number 200 in the convoy\, it could be a while after that. All cars will be numbered\, will proceed in single file\, and must complete the two-hour course covering between 10 and 150 km. After the convoy\, join in the BBQ from 5pm. I see one of the sponsors is The Lady in a Landy. \nThis is just one event of the Land Rover Gathering 24 to be held 27-30 September 2024. DESCRIPTION:Following on from the Victorian Deserts Trip\, this trip explores some of the lesser travelled routes in South Western NSW. Starting from Mildura on the Murray River\, we will visit the amazing lakes\, sandhills and formations to be found in the Mungo National Park\, then head cross country to beautiful Lake Cargelligo\, then onwards along the Lachlan River through Forbes to finish by visiting Nangar National Park near Eugowra\, with its beautiful flora and stunning views. SUMMARY:Exploring Mugii Murum-ban State Conservation Area
DESCRIPTION:Leisurely arrival and setup of camp at the Mt Airly campsite ready to commence our exploration. For the energetic\, a walk along the Tramway Track to find the ruins of Airly Village\, established in the very late 1800s by the people mining kerosene shale. The less energetic may wish to bring a good book and find a shady spot to occupy. \nLater some stargazing may be on the cards\, subject to conditions. \nSunday we head up Genlowan Mountain to explore further. A steep climb (by car)\, expansive views\, a short trek to “the Ultimate Slot”and maybe a venture into “the Valley of the Dinosaurs”\, a visit to a diamond mine\, abandoned dwellings and whatever else we can find before heading home. \nNote that the Mt Airly campsite has NO facilities\, so campers must be self-sufficient. P7 us recommended\, which is a 5-minute walk to CareFlight Headquarters. \nThere are additional public carparks on hospital grounds\, but they are further from base. \nPlease note: Whilst P21 is marked as ‘Visitor Parking\,’ this carpark is reserved for hospital staff. \nCareFlight’s Rapid Response Base is located at 16 Redbank Lane\, Westmead. As you approach our facility\, you will need to pass through boom gates. Simply press the buzzer and inform the operator you are visiting CareFlight.

DESCRIPTION:Perhaps one of NSW’s lesser known National Parks\, Coolah Tops NP is a quiet and beautiful area in the Liverpool Ranges. It features extensive forest including snow gums and giant grass trees and offers some pleasant bushwalking and stunning views of the Liverpool Plains and the upper reaches of the Hunter Valley. \nThree nights camping in the NP will be followed by a scenic drive then two nights camping at Quirindi\, with visits to Bob’s Shed and the Werris Creek Railway Museum.
