SUMMARY:The Grampians (Part A)
DESCRIPTION:The Grampians features some of Victoria’s most spectacular scenery and stunning native wildflowers. This trip is timed to see some wildflowers in bloom\, and before the summer dries out the bush. The second week of NSW school holidays\, but the Victorian schools will have already gone back\, so we should avoid the crowds. Finishing on Saturday morning\, this allows members two days to return home for the first week back at school. \nWe will start our trip in Hall’s Gap\, the centre of the Grampians\, where our base will be at the caravan park. The park provides a great range of accommodation options including tent sites\, caravan sites with or without power\, and cabins. \nThere is a wide range of activities available to Grampians visitors. Our activities will include short and half-day bush walks to spectacular lookouts and waterfalls\, scenic drives and a visit to the Brambuk National Park and Aboriginal Culture Centre. Or do your own thing – stroll the village\, go cycling or just relax with the view. Some 4WD scenic drives are planned\, the tracks are rated medium in parts.

SUMMARY:Historic Land Rover Week
DESCRIPTION:This year\, we are reverting to the original format for the Historic Land Rover gathering of a weekend\, instead of a week. \nAll owners of leaf-sprung Land Rovers and Classic Range Rovers are invited to a weekend of activities based on the property of Club Members Patrick and Margaret Sutcliffe. \nThe property has good bush camping and is about 44 kilometres north of Lithgow. Two bush toilets are provided and there is a shower shed (bring your own shower). Access to the site is possible for camper trailers towed by a proper 4WD (i.e.\, with low ratio and high clearance)\, but NOT caravans. Wood for campfires is available. \nDetails of how to get there will be provided on booking. \nFuel and Basic Supplies \nAvailable from the store at Capertee\, about 14 kilometres away. \nFriday \nPeople are welcome to arrive at the property any time after lunch on the Friday. Friday will be spent settling in to the campsite\, viewing the vehicles and counting rivets. There will be a campfire in the evening subject to fire restrictions. \nSaturday \nOn Saturday morning\, if there is sufficient interest\, a short trip will be taken. This may be through the spectacular Capertee Valley\, the Airly township ruins or visiting the historic shale mining town of Glen Davis. \nAfter lunch\, there will be a chance to test your driving skill on the various Trial courses set out by Peter Mitchell\, for which a prize will be awarded. \nIn the evening\, many tall tales will be told around the campfire (subject to fire restrictions) and the Spirit of Paxina Award will be presented to the participant who best exemplifies the idea of restoring old Land and Range Rovers. \nSunday \nOn Sunday morning we will either finish the Trials\, depending on how many people have registered\, or take the opportunity to explore some interesting tracks on a nearby property\, finishing up mid-morning to allow people to either return home or continue on with their journey. \nContact Patrick for more information or to make a booking.

SUMMARY:Munmorah State Recreation Area
DESCRIPTION:A day trip to Munmorah State Recreation Area\, approximately 1 hour north of Hornsby or 40 minutes south of Newcastle. \nThe feature of the day will be an afternoon visit to a sea cave when the tide is low. Access to the cave requires walking down a rough\, unformed track in the bed of a small creek from the ridge to a nearby beach\, which will take about 20 minutes each way. From there\, reaching the cave itself may require wading through the sea to the access point. More details on registration. The morning will include easy short walks to look-out points and a 1.5km walk through a cabbage tree palm forest. \nThis a repeat of the trip of February 2019. \nTo book or for more information\, contact Betsy and Malcolm.
