SUMMARY:Final Historic Land Rover Weekend
DESCRIPTION:As some of you will be aware\, we are selling our property\, Paxina\, which has been the scene of many a great Land Rover event over the last 25 years\, so this will be your last chance to enjoy the serenity of the campsite and the company of fellow Land Rover owners. At this stage\, nothing specific has been planned\, but we do hope to have at least one convoy of Historic Land Rovers run through the Capertee Valley\, and possibly along the Turon River. \nThe property has good bush camping and is about 44 kilometres north of Lithgow. Two bush toilets are provided\, and there is a shower shed (bring your own shower and water). Access to the site is possible for camper trailers towed by a proper 4WD (i.e.\, with low ratio and high clearance)\, but NOT caravans. Wood for campfires is available. Dogs are welcome\, as long as they are kept under control and poo picked up. \nDetails of how to get there will be provided on booking. \nFuel and Basic Supplies are available from the store at Capertee\, about 14 kilometres away. \nActivities \nPeople are welcome to arrive at the property any time after lunch on the Friday. \nFriday will be spent settling into the campsite\, viewing the vehicles and counting rivets. There will be a campfire in the evening subject to fire restrictions. \nIn the evening\, many tall tales will be told around the campfire (subject to fire restrictions). \nSaturday’s and Sunday’s activities will be decided on at the previous evening’s campfire. \nContact Patrick to book in for this event. \nGrade Note: Grade E at the campsite (no caravans) and Grade D on property tracks.

SUMMARY:Turon National Park Revisited
DESCRIPTION:Time to revisit the Turon\, and another nice Sunday drive! An easy run over the Blue Mountains on Sunday meeting at Capertee in the morning. You may like to make a weekend of it and stay in Lithgow the Saturday night. Other options are local AirBnBs\, or the Capertee pub offers free camping for the price of an evening meal. \nFrom Capertee we’ll go down to the Turon Diggings for some fording action and morning tea. Then we’ll backtrack a few kilometres for a pleasant drive through Turon Gates and along the Turon River where we’ll stop for a river-side lunch. After lunch\, we’ll turn the scenery up a few notches with more fording as we cross the Turon River several times and spectacular valley views as we drive Razorback Road to the Castlereagh Highway and back to Capertee for afternoon tea and trip’s end. \nThis is a nice Sunday drive suitable for the whole family\, but the fording at the Diggings might be a challenge for Evoque and Freelander models. Give me a call if this is you. The pets will need to be left at home though as we will be in a National Park. And don’t worry about the weather – I have a plan B route all on seal so you will get your Sunday drive. \nContact Peter for details and to register for the trip. \nPlease note: Not suitable for Evoque or Freelander vehicles but call me to discuss if this is you.

SUMMARY:Temora Warbirds May Showcase
DESCRIPTION:The Temora Aviation Museum’s May 2023 Aircraft Showcase will feature all serviceable aircraft from the RAAF 100 SQN Historic Flight Collection at the Temora Aviation Museum\, which includes the Supermarine Spitfires\, CA-13 Boomerang\, Cessna O-2A\, Gloster Meteor\, Lockheed Hudson\, Wirraway\, Tiger Moth\, Ryan STM S2\, and English Electric Canberra. Note that this is not the major Warbirds airshow but a more intimate Showcase where you can walk around the aircraft and workshops and talk to the flight crew and maintenance teams. Plus of course the flying program – you are not going to see and hear many of these aircraft flying anywhere else in the world. \nI plan on leaving Friday morning for the run down the motorway to Temora via Binalong and Harden\, and to set-up camping at the airfield\, with dinner at a local club. Saturday is the Showcase day starting at 10am\, and we’ll see about dinner again at a local club. Sunday we’ll meander back to Sydney via Young\, Cowra and Oberon picking up a few POI along the way. Pet\, camper and kid friendly. \nFor more information or to register for the trip\, contact Peter. Book your own tickets at May Showcase – Temora Aviation Museum and airfield accommodation at Temora Airfield Tourist Park — Visit Temora.

SUMMARY:Myall Lakes NP Beach Driving
DESCRIPTION:Please Note: This trip is now full\, but please contact Peter to be added to the waitlist. \nAbout three hours north of Sydney is Myall Lakes NP\, between Hawks Nest and Seal Rocks. For an $8 day pass\, you can drive two beaches\, one to Little Gibber and the other to Big Gibber. This trip will hit both these beaches. \nOn Saturday\, we’ll meet in Hawks Nest at 10am\, making sure everyone has a beach pass\, and then drive to Little Gibber. We’ll spend a couple of hours there\, with a lazy lunch\, a walk around the headland\, and the usual beach activities like swimming or at least testing the water\, lying about\, even fishing. If it is a bit windy\, we can walk over the headland to the sheltered side. Back to our accommodation in the afternoon for a walk along Jimmy’s Beach or even Yacaaba Headland for the fit types\, and a pub/club dinner for those interested. \nSunday is a repeat\, but to Big Gibber. This is a longer drive in softer sand\, but both days have been scheduled so we’ve got low tides. Once we are all off the beach\, it’s time to head home. \nYou will of course need to have done the Sand Driver training course\, have a tyre gauge and compressor\, plus recovery gear – a snatch strap\, shackles and spade at a minimum\, but extra points for recovery boards or a winch. The trip will be limited to six vehicles. And as we are in a NP\, no pets please. \nAccommodation: Caravan Park in Hawks Nest – cabin\, powered or unpowered sites available. \nContact Peter for details and to register for the trip. \nPlease note: Not suitable for Evoque or Freelander vehicles

SUMMARY:Temora Warbirds Downunder 2022
DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED: Unfortunately this event has been cancelled due to heavy flooding down at Temora as of 28/09/2022. \n\nThe largest Warbirds airshow in the Southern Hemisphere will once again take flight over Temora\, NSW on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October 2022. This two-day event is jam-packed with action\, in the air and on the ground\, making for a great weekend for your entire family. \nThis is a major event and you can expect there to be 30\,000 visitors so you need to be prepared for a bit of hustle and bustle along with high octane and high speed aerial action. For detailed information and to book your tickets and airfield accommodation\, see Warbirds Downunder 2022. You will need to be quick or you will miss out. \nI plan on leaving Friday morning for the run down the motorway to Temora via Binalong and Harden\, and to set-up camping at the airfield\, with dinner at a local club. Plan B is a few meals in the fridge. Saturday is the first show day\, and we’ll see about dinner again at a local club. Sunday is the second show day finishing at 3pm\, and some may want to head home back up the motorway. For those staying\, we’ll find another club\, or maybe it is takeaway night\, and on Monday we’ll meander back to Sydney via Young\, Cowra and Oberon picking up a few POI along the way. Camper and kid friendly. \nFor more information or to register for the trip\, contact Peter. Please be quick or we’ll find everything booked out.

SUMMARY:The Grampians
DESCRIPTION:The Grampians features some of Victoria’s most spectacular scenery and stunning native wildflowers. This trip is timed to see some wildflowers in bloom\, and before the summer dries out the bush. The second week of NSW school holidays\, but the Victorian schools will have already gone back\, so we should avoid the crowds. Finishing on Friday morning\, this allows members enough days to return home for the first week back at school. Or\, continue your travels with the club and join the Western Victoria trip which follows on. \nWe will base our trip in Hall’s Gap\, the centre of the Grampians\, where our base will be at the caravan park. The park provides a great range of accommodation options including tent sites\, caravan sites with or without power\, and cabins. \nThere is a wide range of activities available to Grampians visitors. Our activities will include short and half-day bush walks to spectacular lookouts and waterfalls\, scenic drives and a visit to the Brambuk National Park and Aboriginal Culture Centre. Or do your own thing – stroll the village\, go cycling or just relax with the view. Some 4WD scenic drives are planned\, the tracks are rated medium in parts. All activities are optional. No pets permitted. \nContact John for more information.

SUMMARY:Hill End Weekend
DESCRIPTION:There is a little something for everyone on our late winter weekend away to Hill End. The main theme of the weekend is stargazing and night photography as we’ve coincided the trip with a new moon on Saturday night\, but there will be plenty of 4WD action on both Saturday and Sunday\, sampling of local produce\, chats around the campfire\, and the chance to discover some of the oldest Australian mining history in and around the village of Hill End. \nWe will meet on Saturday morning at Lithgow and head out to Hill End via a river crossing using some 4WD tracks\, and stay overnight at the Hill End Ranch. On Sunday we will travel to Orange via more 4WD tracks\, ending the trip at Mt Canobolas. \nAccommodation will be in unique train carriages\, or you can choose to stay in one of the cottages or budget cabins. \nFor more information and to secure your spot on this fun weekend\, please contact Jenny for a full weekend itinerary.

SUMMARY:The Darling River Run
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin John and Tracey on a one-week trip travelling down the Darling River from Bourke to Wentworth. \nThe trip is suitable for tents\, camper trailers and off-road caravans\, we will be taking our caravan so travel speeds will be slower.  The road from Bourke to Wentworth is mainly a gravel road which will further reduce travel speeds). \nWe will be staying in Caravan Parks and Sheep Station Stays; this will ensure we have accommodation booked for the entire trip (no free camps). As we will be travelling through National Parks and staying at a Sheep Station\, dogs will not be allowed. \nThe trip is approximately 3000 km\, so to do the trip in one week we will need to be travelling to the next camp everyday (except Trilby Station\, where we will have two nights and driving the mud map tour of the station approximately 60 km) \nThis trip has a strictly limited number of participants due to accommodation availability and it is expected to fill quickly. \nFor more information\, or to book\, please contact John and Tracey (bookings via email only please).
