All British Day
It didn’t rain. To many people that’s all that mattered. After last year, when it seemed like we had August’s rain fall on one day, Sunday was a warm sunny day. The All British Day is a chance for clubs representing British built cars to get together and display there pride and joy. It’s a celebration of British engineering featuring cars that range from looking like they have just come from the factory to cars that are in ‘original’ condition. Of course Britain still has some manufacturers and latest models from Jaguar, Land Rover and Bently were scattered around the displays. Over 1400 vehicles representing more than 30 clubs were displayed featuring cars, buse
s, trucks and fire engines, military vehicles and motorcycles.
The format of the day is very relaxing. You arrive somewhere between 7.30am and 9.00am, park your car in your club’s area and then enjoy the day. It is run in conjunction with Kings School’s Art Show so there was a large display of arts and craft available to purchase.
This year our club displayed with the Land Rover Owner’s club allowing us to celebrate Land Rovers 60th birthday by displaying a history of Land Rover. First, the Series vehicles through to Defenders, then Range Rovers from the earliest 2 door through to the latest model and then Discovery 1,2 and 3. Alto Land Rover lent us a Sport to complete the display.
Besides looking at all the wonderful machines on display, the day offers a relaxing informal time with other members. The day will be on again next year and should be even bigger.
