Range Rover & Discovery Owners The Range Rover Club of Australia, NSW Branch is primarily a recreational four-wheel-drive club The purpose of the Club is to unite people whose common interest is the Range Rover or Discovery, and membership is open only to owners or principle drivers of these vehicles. Driver TrainingThe Club Driver Training Programme is a cornerstone of the member benefits provided by the Club. The Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at various venues around Sydney. A quality monthly magazine, ‘Marque’, featuring news of past and future trips and other items of general interest, is mailed to all members. Our History The Range Rover Club of Australia (NSW) Ltd was formed in April 1978 and has since grown rapidly. It is now incorporated as a company limited by guarantee. The club was formed to bring Range Rover owners together, not only because the founders enjoyed recreational 4WD in the Australian bush, but they also saw the Range Rover as a very special and unique ‘marque’ in the world of motor vehicles. Since 1991 membership has been opened to the Land Rover Discovery. Community involvment Our Club welcomes the opportunity to get involved with the wider community on specific projects. Some of our community activities include: · Participation in ‘Clean Up Australia Day’, assisting with the retrieval of old car bodies, tyres etc., dumped in terrain difficult to access by conventional vehicle- · Support to the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The RFDS is a lifeline for outback residents and travellers-· Support to Care Flight based at Westmead Children’s Hospital · Camping weekends away with disadvantaged children · Restoration work on tracks in National Parks. · Stockton Beach Clean Up program · Assisting with the restoration of the Snowy Mountains Huts Committee The Range Rover Club of Australia, NSW Branch is managed by a committee consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, with additional officers editing the club magazine, organising driver training and education, purchasing equipment for sale to members, social functions for members and their children, membership, club library, publicity, and 4WD Association representative. Election of Office Bearers is carried out at the Annual General Meeting held in September each year. All club members may nominate for committee positions. Who can join? The Range Rover Club is basically a ‘one make’ Club as this facilitates more predictable and safer touring. All vehicles on our trips are equally capable (the Range Rover and the Land Rover Discovery have virtually identical mechanical specifications). Our club members live all over Australia and cover all age groups. What we do Trips are orientated toward family involvement. In a typical year the Club may offer as many as 30 or more activities to members varying from day trips, weekend overnights and longer, to dinners and social activities. All club trips are on existing tracks, never ‘off-road’, and often end up in national parks.
